I know it well: keeping the room always tidy It almost seems like an impossible dream. But I assure you that with a few small habits and strategic changes you can really transform it into an oasis of peace, day after day. In this article I will tell you my 5 favorite tricks for having a room always tidy and welcoming, without struggling every time.

Simplify your bedding to always have a tidy room
Making your bed every morning changes the look of your room dramatically. But if you find yourself struggling with sheets, duvets, and throw pillows every time, maybe the problem isn't you, but your choice of linens. For example, I replaced my classic sheets with a beautiful, decorative duvet cover that I can simply hang out and arrange in an instant.
Also reduce the number of pillows: a few but effective ones are enough to add an aesthetic touch without becoming a source of chaos. And if you don't use the top sheet, don't feel guilty: put it away and save time.

Make tidying up a part of your daily routine
Just as you take care of your face every night, you can do the same with your room. I take 5 minutes before going to sleep to put away clothes, throw away receipts and organize the small objects that inevitably accumulate. Don't underestimate the domino effect of this simple habit.
Always think: “Does this object have a specific place?” If the answer is no, it’s probably time to get rid of it or create a permanent home for it.
Schedule weekly cleaning sessions
It may seem trivial, but scheduling 15 minutes on Saturday morning to clean the nightstands and empty the drawers can change the situation. When you don't procrastinate, everything becomes easier.
I use a “block” approach: each week I choose an area of the room (the dresser, the closet, the desk) and I take care of it in a targeted way. And you know what? Seeing every corner tidy motivates me even more.
Set achievable and specific goals
You don’t have to revolutionize everything in one day. Start with small steps, like tidying up that chair full of clothes or emptying the nightstand. It’s easier to use SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound.
For example: “Tomorrow I will dedicate 20 minutes only to the underwear drawer”. When you complete even a small mission, the satisfaction spurs you to continue. And the room thanks you.
No more clothes on the floor (and no more pocket-emptying chairs)
How many times have you thrown your shirt on the chair and thought, “I’ll fold it later”? Spoiler: that “later” never arrives. You can solve this with two simple strategies: a nice basket for semi-clean clothes and a “decorative” chair (that nice one, that you don’t want to cover!).
The basket helps you immediately distinguish what is still wearable from what needs to be washed, avoiding the usual pile on the floor. And the chair is so beautiful that you will now only use it for reading, never again for storage!
Table: What to do every day and every week
| Daily | Weekly |
|---|---|
| Make the bed again | Cleaning the surface of the bedside table |
| Putting away clothes | Drawer arrangement |
| Throw away the rubbish | Decluttering the closet area |
| Reorganize the nightstand | Change of sheets |
Conclusion: Order is a habit, not a chore
Keeping your room tidy doesn't take hours, but a bit of perseverance and a few clever little tricks. Try putting into practice even just one of these tips: you'll see that the feeling of relaxation and well-being that comes from it is priceless.
